Croatian and German are language pairs. Croatian is a language from the Balkan countries. Croatia was part of Yougoslavia. It has a border with Italy. There is a belief the Italian explorer Marco Polo was also from Croatia. There are German speakers from Croatia because it used to be part of the Austrian Hungarian empire.
